My Family

My Family
Compared to my best friend’s parents, mine is a very complicated one to handle for a 20 - year - old girl like me. Maybe because of the generation gap. Dad is 73 and mom is 65, very traditional thinkers. My best friend’s parents are very open minded. Very modern, open to all kinds of conversation like boyfriends, parties, sex and other topics that are new to our generation. Even the way her parents communicate with each other. Showing affections and even sweetness to each other. My parents don’t do that to each other. Dad is very strict, mom is very conservative. I guess that’s how they are in the old ways of living together.

When it comes to asking permission to go to parties, my best friend can ask her parents permission so easily. Mine it’s so friggin’ hard. I have to answer the question when, where, how, and why not to metion who. Trust is a very big issue for them. Too much for being ‘over protective’. All throughout my life I had been nothing but an angel. No barkadas during highschool, no parties, all school activities from gradeschool to highschool even until now. I almost didn’t have a social life and almost didn’t have the knowledge of other things that is not taught in school.

Traditional ways have really great practices for disciplining a child but nowadays, there should be changes in a way that parents should always communicate with their child openly, unlike before who’s parents are not that open or even close to their kids. There are new issues that can revolve around a child’s mind and it’s up to the parents to really get into their child’s world to further understand and have a good relation to their kinds.

***These are all based on my experiences and understanding from the last two short stories that we have read.

Aristotle (My art)

My talents are writing poems and songs, playing musical instruments, and dancing. I've been dancing since i was 5, Ballet was my favorite thing to do back then. I stop attending Ballet classes at the age of 9. But I never stop dancing... I always join dance competition before. My last dance concert was when i was in freshmen high school, Sindaw Philippines visited our school and made a concert production for the celebration of our foundation day. It was fun!!! My writing started when I was 12 and I never stop writing about everything. I joined our highschool publication when i was in third year. And now i'm the associate edidor for our school publication. The organ was my first musical instrument. My mom hired an instructor to teach me how to play it. I love music. I also started playing the guitar when i was in freshmen highschool, sophomore i started playing the base guitar and the drums. i also learned how to play the flute and the harp. I love doing these things because it calms me down. it takes me to a relaxing place and an imaginative place that i can think of. i love being creative.

Dancing for me is an art including writing and playing the instruments because it is something that you make. it is an art. it's a creative form of thinking beyond what you see, hear and do. Like interpretative dancing, it's an immitation of life with a creative flavor in it.

In writing and playing musical instruments, we have these emotions that we want to express in a different way... we want to express our feelings in the best way we can or the only way we can to get it out of our system...

1. Does the Artist’s INTENTION make something Art? yes, he's intention is to express his feelings in a different ground.
2. Does the fact that a work treated as Art by the art world (define) make it Art? Yes...
3. Are judgments about Art objective? Or are they simply matters of TASTE? (define) Art is all about the one's taste on art. Art is something that we choose to like or love or even hate. Art is what we make that is unique to everyone and it speaks to us.
4. Is one artistic or AESTHETIC judgment as good as another?
5. Does the application of aesthetic concepts make something a Work of Art?

My name is Gaya Jane S. Ocampo. At home i'm called Gaya, here at school I'm called Jane. I'm not too tall and not too short, I have an all natural golden brown hair, hazel eyes and a natural light skin tone. I'm a full blooded Filipino with a dash of Spanish Blood that came from my great great great grand father. I love art, I love music, i love sports and everything else that creates beauty. I want to see the world, and it's my goal in life to roam around the world before I die. I also love all man-made inventions. It shows that human are creative and artistic.

This is a musical score or a musical piece. It represents me as a person who love art. I love music. I listen to music everyday. It relaxes me and it also ignites me. It also represents my emotions whether i'm happy or not every song is heard depending on my emotions. A part of that it is also like my journal. The songs are like my life as it drives by through time it tells a story of my life.
